Previously called the 'Basic Auditory Science (BAS) Meeting' and the 'BSA Short Papers Meeting', the Auditory Science Meeting is an annual conference where hearing scientists from around the UK (and beyond) connect or reunite, and present their latest research.

The next meeting will mark its 50th anniversary and will be held in Manchester on Tuesday 8th – Wednesday 9th September.

Registration was limited to 110 delegates, with places filled in order of registration.

Event details

The Auditory Science Meeting (ASM) is an annual conference where hearing scientists from around the UK (and beyond) connect or reunite, and present their latest research. The meeting has existed in one form or another since 1977 and has previously been called the 'Basic Auditory Science (BAS) Meeting' and the 'BSA Short Papers Meeting'.

ASM2026 will take place in Manchester, and will be hosted jointly by Manchester Centre for Audiology and Deafness at The University of Manchester, and the University of Salford.

ASM2026 will include a variety of talks spanning basic to translational hearing research. Ample time will be scheduled for viewing posters and networking. Delegates may submit abstracts for either an oral presentation or a poster.

Information for presenters

Oral presentations

Each oral presentation has been allocated 15 minutes in total. We recommend allowing 12 minutes for the presentation, followed by 3 minutes for questions and discussion.

Presentation slides should be uploaded to the conference Dropbox by 1 September 2026. The upload page will ask for your name and email address, but you do not need a Dropbox account.

Poster boards are 2.1 m high × 1.2 m wide. The recommended poster format is A0 portrait.

Please bring your poster with you and set it up during conference registration, ready for the first poster session.
